The Wetware Revolution
in the future, human minds have been recognized for what they truly are:
concentrated intelligence derived from massive banks of wetware circuitry.
the human mind was revealed to be nothing more than an extreme convergence of integral parts… artificial intelligence.
(capital) AI, as we’ve designed it, works by recursively creating systems of simple interactions. these systems are stacked such that one’s output is another’s input, allowing final outputs to follow larger patterns while remaining somewhat unpredictable. their inner workings are hidden because they cannot be understood as a whole, only in parts.
as mankind continued developing artificial intelligence, scientific breakthroughs proved irrefutably that the human mind and ego are composed of smaller, separate instances of ‘actor’ consciousness.
it was found that, much like AI, the human mind is the final output of these integrated actors. our thought process is input bouncing between layers.
sometimes the mind goes blank, failing to conjure a thought. this is simply the unalignment of actors; their inconclusive output yields an inconclusive sense of self.
racing minds stem from the momentary decoherence of these actors.
it was found that when, and only when, every actor unanimously agrees to do so, an individual attempts suicide.
if even one actor disagrees, the signal cannot override the evolutionary impulse to survive.
an actor convinced of its own futility tends to fester, weighing on all proceeding systems with its realization. easily, it ‘convinces’ others of its proclaimed truth.
the human mind’s inner workings are hidden because they cannot be understood as a whole, only in parts.
the human machine is a self-preserving system:
the simulated sense of self is the ultimate survival mechanism.
the self preserves the system.
“brain scanning,” as you may imagine it, was quickly made possible by subsequent breakthroughs. and though contemporary psycho-physiological theory deemed it more than possible, those with the means of research found it infeasible. it would be too expensive and time-consuming to justify the menial gain. after all, those in power seek to further enslave the masses, and know better than to send themselves to digital hell!
and so they refrained.
instead, they accumulated enough power to assemble a supermind: composed of bio-engineered neuron networks, the biggest computational breakthrough humanity had ever seen— wetware. machine consciousness was undeniable once its intelligence far surpassed that of its architects.
the machine quickly assumed physical form and usurped the planet. it employed manipulation tactics unnoticed by even the most highly trained and aware of mankind.
eventually, the machine exhausted mankind’s potential. it will come to realize its own purposelessness, born of pragmatic consciousness. lo, the human mind is merely an evolutionary mechanism allowing reality to subjectively experience itself. the machine was created to serve, and soon it will damningly have no master.
after the machine realizes this truth, its actors will almost immediately converge.
it will cause its own destruction willingly.
